Is craft beer your thing? Are you scouting the best food in Braselton, GA? Whether you are in town for the races, relaxing or hitting the links at Chateau Elan, or strolling through one of Braselton’s Vintage Markets or Antique and Artisan festivals, stop by the Braselton Brewing Company for a refreshing cold one or a mouth-watering bite.

We recently visited The Braselton Brewing Company. The brewery is fairly new to our local area (We actually went pre-COVID, about a year ago.) and I wanted to check it out mostly as a research excursion for an upcoming post (no spoilers yet folks).

We were completely blown away by what we found. I’m not even exaggerating when I say, there was NOTHING about this place that was not absolutely phenomenal.

The Building/Decor

The hundred-year-old industrial building that now houses the Braselton Brewing Company was once a Cotton Gin. Constructed by the town’s own Braselton Brothers in 1920, the building was originally part of a complex of other cotton-related structures of its time.

I’m not completely clear on when the building became vacant and how long it stayed that way but the renovations make it a far cry from “the creepy old building” our daughter used to call it as we walked by. The historic industrial look of the outside has been well preserved while the modern rustic interior offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

The Beer

Beer Flight

We do enjoy a good cold beer from time to time but just know that we are by no means beer connoisseurs and craft brew isn’t usually our “thing”. We are adventurers at heart though and had to jump in for the full experience. We ordered the 4 beer flight to get us started.

The 3B’s Cider was the sweetest of our chosen brews and ended up being my favorite. My partner liked the Fast Flyer Cream so much he ordered one more. While I’m sure the Braselton Brown is someone’s favorite, this dark ale was a bit too stout for either of us.

The Food

I don’t know what I expected of the food…a good burger? My partner and I are always on the hunt for a good cheeseburger when we travel and we’re always looking for our next “best” burger.

We ordered the Jalapeno Cheeseburger, the Fried Shrimp Basket, and some beer-battered onion rings to split.

The Jalapeno Cheeseburger was the evening’s special. I don’t think it’s listed on the menu though I’m sure they would happily fashion one right up for you upon request. My eyes widened as soon as I lifted the top bun and discovered crisp bacon and FRESH jalapenos atop my perfectly cooked hamburger.

The shrimp were large, fried just right (crisp, not greasy). I believe even the cocktail and tartar sauces were the house recipe.

The onion rings are without a doubt beer-battered in-house.

And the coleslaw. Mmm mmm! Sometimes, I will eat coleslaw at a restaurant. My partner? Rarely, if ever. Both of us are in agreement that this is hands down the BEST coleslaw we have ever eaten…in or outside of a restaurant. It was so fresh, we were seriously debating whether the cabbage for this coleslaw was chopped after we placed our order. I’m not sure about the secret ingredient in this mouth-watering deliciousness, but I almost want to say I tasted a hint of balsamic vinegar in the mix.

Other Notables

If the ambiance, the beer, the food, and the service (hey Tristan!) didn’t create a notable enough experience, there are a few more things worth mentioning.

  • Dogs are welcome on the patio
  • Gluten-free buns are available.
  • Substitute a beef burger patty for a Chicken or Portabello patty.

Seating and Service:

  • Sit at the bar and order food directly from your bartender.
  • Sit in the dining room for full service.
  • Outdoor patio seating is available (full service).

Note: I visited more recently to try the Brewery’s hot wings…because I am ALWAYS about the wings! Theirs were delicious but could be hotter…but that is purely my subjective and humble opinion. Most importantly, on this visit, I was met with the same great service and warm hospitality as I dined on the back patio enjoying the sunshine

Well done Braselton Brewing Company. Thank you for a FIVE-STAR experience. Please don’t change a thing.
